est un groupe norvégien
de black metal formé à Oslo en 1997 par d'anciens membres de Alvheim.
Le groupe produit une musique plus traditionnelle que d'autres formations de black metal, la production est en effet plus soignée que celle de groupes comme Darkthrone. Le style et la structure musicale sont similaires à la seconde vague des groupes norvégiens de la deuxième moitié des années 1990. 1349 a été comparé à Enslaved, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Immortal, et Mayhem. De plus, 1349 est célèbre pour son batteur, Frost (jouant aussi dans Satyricon), l'un des plus rapides du monde. Le nom 1349 a été choisi par le groupe car c'est l'année de l'arrivée de la peste en Norvège.

se forme à Stockholm en 1988. Ce pionnier du death metal suédois
(à l'instar d'Entombed, Grave et Unleashed) s'articule autour du trio formé par le guitariste Dave Blomqvist, le bassiste chanteur Robert Sennebäck et le batteur Fred Estby. Mais 18 mois et 2 démos plus tard, Dismember est dissous.
Dave Blomqvist (après un court passage chez Nihilist/Entombed) et Fred Estby rejoignent Carnage tandis que Robert Sennebäck intègre Unleashed. Mais Carnage est à son tour dissous en 1991. Dave et Fred choisissent de réactiver Dismember avec l'aide du chanteur de Carnage Matti Karki (futur At The Gates et Therion, mais aussi Carbonized, General Surgery et Murder Squad). Robert Sennebäck réintègre Dismember au poste de guitariste, tandis que Richard Cabeza (issu du groupe de death expérimental Carbonized) se charge de la basse. Dismember tient alors un line up solide. Il tiendra 7 ans.
